Where. When.
Who. Conditions.
The first operational version combines real public data-source architecture with curated crop windows. Phenology and accumulated growing-degree-day layers are designed around USA-NPN; drought context is designed around the U.S. Drought Monitor.
The PollinationTech fallback map is shown instead.
Seasonal pollination context.
These starter windows are intentionally broad and editorial. They are here to make the interface useful while we build more precise crop- and region-specific phenology feeds.
Search a place. Read the landscape.
Search for a U.S. city, county, or region. PollinationTech will geocode the place, mark it on the map, estimate its broad seasonal context, and attempt a point query against the live USA-NPN AGDD raster.
A readable field snapshot.
This panel synthesizes live weather with seasonal and environmental context. It does not claim to measure successful pollination; it explains whether conditions appear broadly supportive of pollinator flight and crop activity.
Use the Place Inspector above to generate a local conditions summary.
CONTEXT
No place selected.
USA-NPN point context will appear after search when available.
Broad crop-window context will appear after search.
Use the live USDM inspector below. Drought is intentionally not inferred from weather alone.
The flight assessment is a transparent weather heuristic, not a pollination-success prediction. Bloom presence, species behavior, colony condition, pollen compatibility, crop management, and many other variables still matter.
WEATHER SOURCE / WAITING FOR PLACE SEARCHWeather data by Open-MeteoInspect current drought context.
The inspector queries the official U.S. Drought Monitor REST service and returns the latest available percentages for D0–D4. This is contextual environmental data, not a direct pollination measurement.
Built around maintainable sources.
Accumulated Growing Degree Days
USA-NPN publishes current-year AGDD maps using PRISM gridded temperature data, with base 32°F and 50°F products plus anomalies and long-term means.
Current drought context
The U.S. Drought Monitor is updated each Thursday and exposes downloadable GIS data and REST services for programmatic use.
First remote raster connected
The map now attempts a browser-side USA-NPN WMS request for the daily AGDD layer and falls back visibly if that remote service is unavailable.
Plot accepted records.
Load accepted PollinationTech Open records from the configured reference API and display them as a separate map overlay. This layer is intentionally distinct from environmental rasters and curated crop context.
What turns this from prototype into product.
Daily national AGDD raster via the USA-NPN WMS service, with local fallback.
Render weekly drought intensity directly on the map.
Replace broad windows with crop- and region-specific stage models.
Add research, beekeeper, or partner feeds for hive and field activity.
